MR. YILMAZ TUNÇ, THE MINISTER OF JUSTICE, MET WITH MR. FARİD AHMEDOV, THE MINISTER OF JUSTICE OF AZERBAIJAN
30.05.2024

A JOINT DECLARATION WAS SIGNED CONCERNING THE COOPERATION BETWEEN TÜRKİYE AND AZERBAIJAN

Mr. Yılmaz Tunç, the Minister of Justice, and Mr. Farid Ahmedov, the Minister of Justice of Azerbaijan, signed a joint declaration concerning the cooperation involving the sharing of information and experiences in judicial matters between the two countries.

Mr. Yılmaz Tunç, the Minister of Justice, met with Mr. Farid Ahmedov, the Minister of Justice of Azerbaijan, in the Ministry. Alongside the Minsters, the delegations of the two countries also took part in the meeting. Delivering a speech on this occasion, Minister Tunç expressed his congratulations on the occasion of the independence day of Azerbaijan and wished for God’s grace for all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence of Azerbaijan.

Tunç, drawing the attention to the fact that Türkiye and Azerbaijan are two countries that draw their strength from their common history and unity of culture, hold onto each other with strong ties, and share a common fate in today’s world, as it also happened in the past, made a reference to the saying of “One nation, two states” by Haydar Aliyev, the former President and national leader of Azerbaijan, and emphasised that this was the expression which describes the brotherly ties between the two countries in the best manner.

Tunç, expressing that this relationship between the two countries strengthens political, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, stated that they saw the visits between the two countries, mainly between our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the President of Azerbaijan, Mr. İlham Aliyev, as another indication of unparalleled relationship between the countries.

WE ARE COUNTINUING WITH THE SOLIDARITY THAT WE DEMONSTRATED WITH AN INCREASE

Mr. Tunç, the Minister of Justice, reminding that the relations between the two countries were raised to the level of alliance with the Shusha Declaration which was signed by our President Mr. Erdoğan and the President of Azerbaijan, Mr. Aliyev in 15 June 2021, said: “The approval process of the Shusha Declaration has been completed by both of the countries. On this occasion, we are continuing with the solidarity that we demonstrated both in bilateral relations and in regional matters with an increase.”

Minister Tunç, who noted that the Shusha Declaration was an important document which involves cooperation in every area, made the following remarks:

“In fact, the Shusha Declaration has taken its place as a historical document in terms of the fact that both countries have become allies in all the matters such as political, military, economic, educational, judicial matters. The Presidency of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Turkish Maarif Foundation, Yunus Emre Culture Centres, and the offices of commercial counsellors, who have missions of representation in Azerbaijan, work in close cooperation in order to overcome the difficulties faced by our Azerbaijani brothers and to improve our bilateral relations in different dimensions.”

Tunç also emphasised that the importance of the solidarity between Türkiye and Azerbaijan was indisputable in order to ensure peace, stability and development particularly in Caucasia.

WE FEEL GREAT PLEASURE TO EXPRESS THAT WE WILL CONTINUE TO STAND BESIDE YOU WITH ALL OUR MEANS

Tunç, who noted that the Karabakh War, which had been concluded with the victory of Azerbaijan, had demonstrated, once again, that Armenia, who tried to attack Azerbaijan at every turn, was the greatest threat to the peace and serenity in the region, stated the following:

“Brother Azerbaijan, which highly strengthened its military capacity and achieved superiority over Armenia, used its right of self-defence and carried out its righteous struggle in line with the international law and human rights and achieved victory with the decisive leadership of the President Mr. İlham Aliyev. As it has always been, we, as the State and nation of Türkiye, feel great pleasure and happiness to have stood and to continue to stand beside you in this process with all our means.”

WE ARE PLEASED FROM THE LEVEL THE JUDICIAL COOPERATION REACHED

Minister Tunç, stating that cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, which is at a multilateral and strategic dimension, demonstrates itself in the area of judicial relations, informed that there were numerous judicial assistance requests between the two countries.

Tunç stated that these judicial assistance requests were conducted without any problems and added: “Any kind of judicial assistance request submitted by the judicial authorities of our brother Azerbaijan to our country is addressed and tried to be executed diligently as if it was submitted from another judicial authority in our country. Therefore, we are pleased from the level the judicial cooperation reached.”

Minister Tunç, noting that he believes that the meetings held within the scope of the visit would make a great contribution to the further enhancement of the existing cooperation between the two countries, underlined that important cooperation was ensured in all areas as well as judicial matters under the Organisation of Turkic States, to which Azerbaijan and Türkiye were parties.

Minister Tunç pointed out that they had a cooperation with Azerbaijan which dates back to a long time ago and emphasised that they would be in an effort to further improve these relations within the framework of brotherhood law.

On the other hand, Mr. Farid Ahmedov, the Minister of Justice of Azerbaijan, stated that the alliance between the two states had been realised not only through agreements but also through goals and underlined that the summit of this had been the Karabakh War. Ahmedov pointed out that the close relationship between the Presidents of the two countries took the historical relations between the states to another level.

Following the speeches, the two Ministers signed the joint declaration concerning the cooperation involving the sharing of information and experiences in judicial matters between the two countries. After the signatures, Ministers Tunç and Ahmedov present each other with gifts.
