Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ received Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov, who came to Türkiye for various visits.
After the closed-door meeting at the Ministry of Justice, Minister Bozdağ and Prosecutor General Krasnov signed the cooperation protocol. By making a statement to the journalists after the meeting, Bozdağ pointed out that there were strong relations between Türkiye and Russia in every field, and said as follows:
WE DEVELOP OUR COOPERATION IN JUDICIAL MATTERS
"The bilateral relations and sincere friendships of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the President of the Russian Federation, Mr. Vladimir Putin, have carried the relations between the Republic of Türkiye and the Russian Federation to a further point. It is possible to develop and strengthen our cooperation in judicial matters, just like the cooperation between the two countries in other fields. We believe that it will provide great benefits to two countries. There is serious cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Türkiye in judicial matters; and there are also bilateral agreements and there are activities that we carry out together."
By reminding that the protocol for the cooperation program to be implemented between the two countries in 2023-2024 was signed during the meeting, Minister Bozdağ wished that this protocol would be beneficial for the two countries.
As Mr. Bozdağ noted, it was mutually confirmed that they would work together on many issues, especially the fight against terrorism, transnational crimes and cybercrime; and he said that the cooperation on these issues would be developed further in the new period. Minister of Justice Bozdağ thanked Prosecutor General Krasnov for his visit.
WE COOPERATE WITH TÜRKİYE
Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Mr. Krasnov emphasized that the sincere friendship and trust-based relations between the President of the Russian Federation, Mr. Vladimir Putin, and the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, were an example of real diplomacy.
Krasnov stated that they cooperated and would continue to cooperate with Türkiye in judicial matters within the framework of the agreements between Putin and Erdogan; and he stated that terrorism, drugs, smuggling and the prevention of abuse of virtual assets were among the topics, on which the cooperation in judicial matters was based.
By thanking Minister Bozdağ for his hospitality, Krasnov said, "Türkiye is a partner we trust. We trust Türkiye in all matters. We see Türkiye as a reliable partner in judicial matters as well."
During the meeting, the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation Mr. Bekir Şahin, the Deputy Minister of Justice Mr. Yakup Moğul, the Director General of Foreign Relations and European Union Affairs Mr. Kasım Çiçek and the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Ankara Mr. Aleksey Yerhov were also present.
