MINISTER TUNÇ: WE WILL CONTINUE TO STAND BY THE TURKISH PEOPLE OF CYPRUS
The Minister of Justice Mr Yılmaz Tunç said: “We will continue with the support that we provided in every area to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus that we provided as of its independence, with the same decisiveness in the following process, as well. As it was the case in the past, we will continue to be, today, and will be, in the future, standing by the Turkish people of Cyprus.”
The Minister of Justice Mr Tunç came together with the Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. In the meeting that was held in the Ministry of Justice, the Minister Tunç expressed his pleasure from the visit and stated: “We see as our priority target that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus be strengthened with all its institutions and organisations.”
WE SEE THE STABILITY AND WELFARE OF THE TURKISH REPUBLIC OF NORTHERN CYPRUS AS OUR OWN STABILITY AND WELFARE
Underlining that the relations between the two states are based on sound foundations, the Minister Tunç also noted that these good relations would be an opportunity to further enhance the works in the area of judicial cooperation.
The Minister Tunç continued:
“I cordially believe that this visit will be an opportunity to further enhance the relations between the two countries, particularly the works in the area of judicial cooperation. The relations between the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Türkiye are based on sound foundations and these two countries have political, cultural and humanitarian relations within the scope of friendship, brotherhood and any kind of cooperation. We see the stability and welfare of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as our own stability and welfare. I’d like to state that we will continue with the support that we provided in every area to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus that we provided as of its independence, with the same decisiveness in the following process, as well.
The Republic of Türkiye does not abstain from advocating the rightful cause and indispensable rights of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. We, as the homeland and guarantor, as it was the case in the past, we will continue to be, today, and will be, in the future, standing by the Turkish people of Cyprus.”
The Minister of Justice Mr Tunç touched upon the project of penal institution that was opened in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and said: “I believe that we need to address new projects as the needs arise in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus following the penal institution project that was constructed and opened based on the training and improvement system that are in line with the modern law on execution of sentences, instead of the existing penal institution.”
WE COMMEMORATE OUR CHAMPION ANGELS WITH GOD’S GRACE
The Minister of Justice Mr Yılmaz Tunç touched upon the earthquake of 6 February, that is described as the disaster of the century, and wished, one more time, the god’s grace for 35 citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus who lost their lives in İsias Hotel.
The Minister Tunç continued:
“We commemorate the Champion Angels with god’s grace whom we lost in İsias Hotel during the earthquakes of 6 February. It was very sad. We lost more than 50 thousand of our citizens due to the earthquake. 72 people lost their lives in İsias Hotel. 35 of them were citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The trial went on in the 3rd High Criminal Court of Adıyaman. Now, there is a new case filed against the public officials. In relation to the other people, 6 accused persons were found guilty of the offence of causing the death of more than one person with conscious recklessness.”
WE TRUST AND HAVE ALWAYS TRUSTED THE JUSTICE OF THE REPUBLIC OF TÜRKİYE
The Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Mr Ünal Üstel expressed the pleasure he felt from the meeting and expressed his condolences to the families of Champion Angels who lost their lives during the earthquakes of 6 February.
Stating that they trust and have always trusted the justice of the Republic of Türkiye, Üstel continued:
“We, as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, lost our champion angels on 6 February. Our grief is your grief and your grief is our grief. In the disaster of the century, where we lost our champion angels, we, as the government and as the Turkish people of Cyprus, followed up the trial. We trust and have always trusted the justice of the Republic of Türkiye. We express our gratitude to you.”
