The Minister of Justice Mr Yılmaz Tunç received Ambassador Thomas Hans Ossowski, the Head of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Türkiye.
In the reception held at the Ministry, Mr Tunç began his words by wishing success to Mr Ossowski in his new position and stated that the relations between Türkiye and the EU was a matter to which they attached importance.
Mr Tunç, touching upon the fact that they carried out important projects with the EU in the area of judiciary in the past, stated: “We have, again, a series of works concerning the continuity of these projects. In the period ahead, we will continue with our works by increasing them even more. In the period ahead, we will, hopefully, be in the effort to further improve the relations together with you. I thank you very much for your visit. I wish you success in your new position.”
Ambassador Ossowski, the Head of the Delegation of the EU to Türkiye, began his words by saying in Turkish: “Mr Minister, thank you. I am happy now.”
Mr Ossowski, who continued in English, expressed that the hospitality he saw in Türkiye was tremendous and that he had a very good start to his duty.
Mr Ossowski, mentioning about the visit to Türkiye by Ms Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, stated:
“She met with the President Mr Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and positive discussions were realised. During the discussions, mutual ideas were expressed concerning the fact that works should be carried out once again and be expedited with Türkiye, as a candidate country. In the following process, we hope that the barriers and setbacks faced previously will be eliminated and overcome.”
Ossowski noted that the relations between Türkiye and the EU had a high potential, but both of the parties had duties and responsibilities to fulfil.
