MINISTER GÜRLEK STATED: “IN PARTICULAR WITH RESPECT TO BERATCAN GÖKDEMIR, ALSO KNOWN AS ‘CAN DALTON,’ WHO IS ASSESSED TO BE THE RINGLEADER OF AN ORGANIZED CRIMINAL GROUP, WE HAVE ONCE AGAIN CONVEYED TO THE RUSSIAN AUTHORITIES OUR REQUESTS FOR EXTRADITION CONCERNING HIM AND OTHER INDIVIDUALS FOR WHOM EXTRADITION REQUESTS HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED.”
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek stated: “We have once again notified the Russian authorities of our requests for the extradition to our country of individuals, particularly Beratcan Gökdemir, also known as ‘Can Dalton’, who is assessed to be the ringleader of an organized criminal group.”
In a post shared on his social media account, Minister of Justice Gürlek announced that, while attending the “International Legal Forum” in St. Petersburg, they held significant meetings aimed at strengthening Türkiye’s judicial cooperation with Russia and accelerating efforts to combat transnational crime.
Following the inter-delegation meetings held with the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Aleksandr Vladimirovich Gutsan, Minister Gürlek emphasized that a cooperation protocol had been signed, which would further advance mutual legal assistance between the two countries. Minister Gürlek also stated as follows:
“During our meeting, we underscored our resolute struggle against organized criminal groups at both national and international levels, and explicitly conveyed our expectations and precision regarding the extradition of fugitives. In this context, we have once again notified the Russian authorities of our requests for the extradition to our country of individuals, particularly Beratcan Gökdemir, also known as ‘Can Dalton,’ who is assessed to be the ringleader of an organized criminal group. As the Ministry of Justice, we will continue to pursue offenders wherever in the world they may flee, and we will steadfastly work to ensure the realization of justice against those who threaten the security and peace of our nation.”
