IN ORDER TO ENSURE SPECIALIZATION IN THE JUDICIARY, 140 NEW COURTS WILL BE ESTABLISHED

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that a decision was made to establish 140 new courts.

In a statement shared on his social media account, Minister of Justice Gürlek noted that the new courts were established with the aim of delivering judicial services to citizens more effectively, efficiently, and swiftly under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and ensuring specialization within the judiciary.

Minister Gürlek underlined that a decision was made to establish a total of 140 new courts, including 1 high criminal court, 1 juvenile high criminal court, 3 juvenile courts, 46 criminal courts of first instance, 1 criminal judgeship of peace, 4 execution judgeships, 36 civil courts of first instance, 1 civil court of peace, 5 commercial courts of first instance, 2 family courts, 24 labor courts, and 16 consumer courts, and stated the following:

“Under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, a decision was made to establish a total of 140 new courts - including 1 high criminal court, 1 juvenile high criminal court, 3 juvenile courts, 46 criminal courts of first instance, 1 criminal judgeship of peace, 4 execution judgeships, 36 civil courts of first instance, 1 civil court of peace, 5 commercial courts of first instance, 2 family courts, 24 labor courts, and 16 consumer courts - with the aim of delivering judicial services to our citizens more effectively, efficiently, and swiftly, and ensuring specialization within the judiciary.

With this step, we aim to ensure that the trials are concluded within more reasonable timeframes and to further strengthen the effectiveness of judicial services. I wish that our newly established courts will bring benefit to our citizens and to our judicial system.”
